Day by Day

Welcome to Bogota, Colombia’s capital! With over seven million inhabitants, it sits 2,650 meters high in the Andes. Modern Bogota blends cultural heritage with futuristic skyscrapers. Explore colonial churches, pre-Colombian art, and the bustling metropolis. Enjoy your arrival day at leisure, exploring the city at your own pace after checking into our hotel.

After breakfast, join our local guide to explore Bogota. Begin at Paloquemao, a vibrant food market offering a taste of Colombia’s culinary delights. Marvel at fresh produce and street art, then delve into the wonders of the Gold Museum. Experience local flavors at Bolivar Square’s typical restaurant and savor a cup of delicious coffee at a nearby café.

Explore Colombia’s coffee culture on a guided tour of a plantation and processing center. Fly to Armenia, then drive to Recuca coffee farm. Learn about coffee production’s history and process, from growth to roasting. Sample various coffees and learn preparation methods. Relax in the estancia’s scenic surroundings. Later, visit Salento village to admire its colorful charm.

Hop on a jeep to Cocora Valley, home of Colombia’s wax palms. Trek through stunning scenery, maybe to Acaime Reserve to see hummingbirds. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water for the strenuous hike. Enjoy a local lunch. Explore Salento in the afternoon, then play Tejo, a unique Colombian game, later.

After breakfast, catch a flight to Medellin. Meet a local guide to explore Comuna 13, once controlled by cartels but now transformed into a vibrant community. Ride the city’s cable cars and outdoor escalators, offering safer and faster commutes. Explore this urban neighborhood, enjoying panoramic city views from the hilltop.

We’ll climb El Peñol, marveling at the breathtaking view from the top. Capture stunning photos and explore by helicopter. Then, enjoy a boat ride and lunch at Luxe Hotel. Next, we’ll visit Guatape, renowned for its vibrant, colorful houses reflecting Colombia’s rich culture.

Take a short flight to historic Cartagena, one of South America’s oldest cities, founded in 1533. Explore its beautiful churches, plazas, and mansions. Visit the walled fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and walk through the old town, inspired by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Colombia’s Nobel Prize-winning author.

Enjoy another leisure day to explore Cartagena independently or opt for activities like the Totumo mud volcano, Rosario Islands national park, or the Party Bus at night. Explore the old city, visit San Felipe de Barajas Castle, or indulge in a mud bath at Volcan de Lodo El Totumo. Discover the beauty of Playa Blanca and end your day at Plaza de la Trinidad in Getsemaní. For dinner, savor a farewell meal at Interno, a restaurant inside a women’s jail, supporting families of the prisoners.

Travel in the morning to Santa Marta, a 5-hour journey along the Caribbean coast. Pass through Barranquilla, one of Colombia’s largest cities, and observe the country’s major sea ports along the Magdalena River delta. Spend the afternoon leisurely exploring the colonial old city of Santa Marta.

In the morning, explore the hills of the Santa Marta mountain range in Minca village. Hike to Pozo Azul’s scenic watering holes and take a refreshing dip. Learn about cacao production and chocolate making over lunch. In the afternoon, visit the hummingbird sanctuary. Later, head to Taganga, a base for exploring Tayrona National Park.

Explore Tayrona National Park with a 2-hour moderate hike along beaches and through tropical jungle, witnessing impressive rock formations and diverse wildlife. After lunch in the park, hike back to stay in a beautiful lodge nearby.

Relax at our Eco-lodge near Tayrona National Park, surrounded by stunning landscapes, sandy beaches, and rich cultural experiences. Enjoy leisure time to explore the area or participate in optional activities: Camarones National Park for flamingos and birdwatching, or adventure tubing in the Palomino river.

Enjoy your morning at the Eco-lodge as you please—relax, head to the beach, or take a short hike in the tropical forest for scenic views. In the afternoon, embark on a 2-hour drive back to Santa Marta for our final evening by the Caribbean Sea, savoring the sunset.
